The Escape — behind the resort 25 fitting
Three fittings, one pregnant fit model, and a hardware supplier in Surat who saved the collection. Here is the notebook from the final round.
The brief was specific enough to be useful: two parallel moods built into twelve looks, with hardware doing most of the talking — which meant the technical work had to stay invisible. That is usually the sign of a good brief.
Round one — the proportions problem
In the first round we discovered the tops were reading smaller than the sketches suggested. The fix was not cup volume — it was the ratio of the under-band to the centre-front gore. A 4mm adjustment.
Every garment has a ratio that makes it feel expensive. In intimate wear, it’s almost always the under-band.
The textured fabric came in looking wrong — more bouclé than crepe — and we held production for eleven days while the mill re-ran the sample. Worth it.
